Gina Lambright, Assistant Dean at the School of International Service (SIS) at American University, hosted an information session to introduce prospective students to the SIS program. She presented the school's comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum, highlighting features such as small class sizes averaging 20 students, over 100 faculty representing diverse disciplines, and extensive experiential learning opportunities including internships, study abroad programs, and community-based learning. Gina explained the two-semester first year structure with discovery and development components, the year-long research sequence, and six thematic areas that students can focus on. She detailed various special academic programs including incoming programs like the Sakura Scholars joint degree with Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, and special cohort programs for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The session concluded with discussions about post-graduation outcomes, with Gina noting that SIS graduates work in diverse fields including public sector, private sector, and international organizations, and answered multiple questions about housing, honors programs, study abroad options, and course requirements.
