This webinar for accepted transfer students at American University (AU) introduced the university and discussed next steps for enrollment. Beth Gandolfo, an associate director of admissions, provided an overview of AU's urban campus in Washington, DC, highlighting its 91-acre traditional quad campus, commitment to environmental sustainability, and Division I athletics. She explained that AU has over 250 clubs and organizations, offers study abroad programs in 40+ countries, and provides internship support with a 91% employment rate within 6 months of graduation. Diane Palmer, Coordinator of Transfer Student Success, outlined specific support programs for transfer students including cohort groups, an AU Encounters course, and a transfer student advisory board. Academic advisors from various schools including the School of Public Affairs, Kogod School of Business, School of International Service, and College of Arts and Sciences introduced their advising models and emphasized the importance of submitting final transcripts quickly for credit evaluation. The webinar concluded with a Q&A session where questions were answered about course selection, registration priority, deferment policies, and health insurance requirements.
